One Issue One Page Meaning

For too long our Representatives have snuck in special items for special interest in bills that don’t get read because they are too long or there is not enough time to review the bill. That needs to stop today. Let your Representative know that the rubber stamp and special interests need to stop.

A bill proposed by Senator Rand Paul in the 114th congress (S. 1572) States that each bill must be one subject. This would allow each item to be voted on individually and allow for a more transparent government. This would, in effect, allow the House and Senate a line item veto power that Presidents have wanted for years. But unlike a single person with that power it would be the group in congress.

Now I know that it would be hard in some cases to actually fit a bill on one page, but the old KISS (Keep is Simple, Stupid!) principle should be used as much as possible. We do not need hundred page bills that hide special interest items. The only special interest should be for the benefit of the American people!
